Odoo ERP Customization for Automotive Polymer & Rubber Manufacturing

About Krish Polymer

Krish Polymer is a specialized manufacturer of high-precision rubber and polymer components (such as EPDM gaskets, nitrile seals, and silicone diaphragms) catering primarily to the automotive and heavy industrial sectors. Their operational complexity stems from managing an extensive product variant matrix (differing by material, hardness, size, and temperature resistance) and operating a dual production model. They mass-produce standard products (Make-to-Stock) while also engineering highly customized OEM parts requiring bespoke mold development (Make-to-Order).

Core Business Challenges

Custom Mold Management

Tracking the lifecycle, maintenance schedules, and usage counts of thousands of custom molds was highly manual, leading to unexpected production downtimes.

Complex Variant Handling

Managing the sheer volume of product variants (e.g., Rubber Seal: NBR vs. EPDM vs. Silicone) created quoting and BOM mapping nightmares.

Rigorous Automotive Quality Compliance

The automotive industry demands extreme precision. Krish Polymer struggled to maintain connected records for Incoming QC (raw materials), In-Process QC (molding defects), and Final QC (tensile strength, heat resistance).

End-to-End Traceability

Lack of automated batch and lot tracking made it difficult to trace a finished automotive seal back to the specific raw rubber compound lot used.

The Proposed Solution & Process Workflow

CandidRoot deployed a comprehensive, barcode-enabled ERP architecture tailored to the nuances of rubber manufacturing, incorporating advanced PLM and Maintenance features.

1

Technical CRM & Engineering (PLM Integration)

  • Inquiries are captured in the CRM, detailing specific parameters (Hardness, Temperature Resistance, Application).
  • For custom products, the system triggers an Engineering Review workflow. Using integrated PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), the team manages drawing revisions, sample production, and final customer prototype approval before converting the Opportunity into a Sales Order (SO).
2

Automated Procurement & Incoming QC

  • The system generates automated Purchase Requests based on SOs (for MTO) or Reordering Rules (for MTS).
  • Upon receiving raw rubber (EPDM, NBR) and chemicals, materials are placed in a holding zone for Incoming QC. Parameters like elasticity, density, and chemical composition are tested.
  • Approved batches are assigned internal tracking lots and moved to the Raw Material Store; failed batches are routed for vendor return.
3

Multi-Stage Manufacturing & Mold Maintenance

  • Manufacturing Orders (MO) are routed through specific work centers: Rubber Mixing ➔ Cutting ➔ Compression/Injection Molding ➔ Vulcanization (Curing) ➔ Trimming ➔ Assembly.
  • Mold Management System: Integrated deeply into the molding work center. The system tracks the exact Mold Number, Cavity Count, and Usage Count. It automatically triggers preventative maintenance alerts to ensure molds do not degrade and cause flash defects.
4

In-Process & Final Quality Assurance

  • In-Process QC: Conducted post-molding to check for shape irregularities, bubble defects, and flash defects.
  • Final QC: Before packing, the finished goods undergo rigorous testing for diameter, thickness, flexibility, and leakage.
  • Any failure triggers an automated QC Alert and Root Cause Analysis protocol.
5

Barcoded Inventory & Dispatch Routing

  • The entire warehouse structure (RM Store ➔ WIP ➔ FG Store) is managed via barcode scanning.
  • Strict Lot/Batch tracking links the Raw Material Lot to the Production Batch and ultimately to the Finished Product Batch.
  • Approved finished goods are packed (batch-wise or customer-wise) and processed for final dispatch.

Business Impact & Value Delivered

Zero-Downtime Mold Management

Automated tracking of mold usage counts and maintenance schedules extended the lifespan of expensive tooling and eliminated unexpected production halts.

Audit-Ready Traceability

The implementation of barcode-driven batch tracking ensured 100% compliance with stringent automotive industry standards, allowing instant recall capabilities.

Streamlined Custom Engineering

Bridging the CRM with engineering approvals reduced the turnaround time from initial inquiry to final sample approval for custom OEM components.

Defect Reduction

Implementing strict, multi-tier QC gates (Incoming, In-Process, Final) drastically reduced customer rejections and improved overall product reliability.
